TRAVERSE CITY â The former treasurer of the Northwestern Michigan Fair was arraigned on an embezzlement charge recently in Grand Traverse Countyâs 86th District Court.
Jillian Marie Noel, formerly of Buckley, was charged on May 20 with one count of embezzlement by an agent or trustee of $50,000 or more but less than $100,000 for her connection with incidents dating back to November 2016 to July 2019.

SHETLAND Islands Council is lining up a bid worth up to £25 million for a new Fair Isle ferry and harbour improvements as it looks to take advantage of a new UK Government fund.
The proposal includes replacing the ageing
Good Shepherd IV with a bespoke ro-ro vessel, as well as harbour works in both Fair Isle and at Grutness in the south mainland.

Good Shepherd, which is over 30 years old and does not meet current accessibility standards, has been rumbling on for years.
The new vessel, which would be larger and faster than the current one and continue to have a 12 passenger capacity, is estimated at £4.8 million and harbour infrastructure could cost just over £20 million.
The pulled pork was hot.
The auction action was definitely hot.
And Wareham High School DECA’s 41st annual fundraising auction Sunday on the school’s grounds was a hot success.
The DECA crew switched things up this year, turning what had traditionally been an indoor event into an outdoor tailgating party in deference to COVID safety.
The venerable event transitioned well to the open air, which was a credit to the preparation and hard student work. The organization was evident, with students checking in attendees arriving in their cars, directing them to parking, providing the food, as well as organizing the auction items and the fun.
